The ip address seems to be okay, but if I trace the ethernet interface when I 
select the playlist, I see that the mvp makes no attempt to contact the VLC 
server, on that address or any other.  In my telnet session to the mvp, I get 
this:

Show playlist menu
building playlist from file //test.m3u
playlist parsing took 0.00 seconds
Starting to play audio file '/var/myth/test.avi'
expose on unknown wid 379
expose on unknown wid 378
Cannot find (null):[10 garbage high-ascii characters]
Done with audio file

And that's all she wrote.
