Pleased but not surprised. FLAC is quite well optimized towards the decoder.

Skipping FLAC metadata is quite simple (though you probably need to 
implement the format tags if you want to support other formats than only 
redbook) and should not cause a problem.

How did you add FLAC? Just cross-compiled libflac?
