Hi Folks! I have an MVP that I bought specifically to run mvpmc for our bedroom, and it's fantastic for watching stuff recorded by my Freevo PVR when the kids are in bed. I was thinking I'd get another for the Family Room when I ran across the MediaGate MG-35. A local store has some on clearance for $20 more than a new MVP. It has composite, S & component video outs (480p, 720p, 1080i), analog, optical and co-axial digital audio outs, and it's Sigma chip supports MPEG 1/2/4, Divx and xVid (with some exceptions), mp3 and ogg all in Hardware. It also supports an internal FAT32 or NTFS PATA drive for local storage (and file transfer via USB 2), as well as 10/100 ethernet. Newer firmware seems to support Ximeta NDAS (network access to the drive as if it were local).
There's an open source project for it, much like mvpmc: http://mediagate.pbwiki.com/ I'm just wondering if: 1. Anyone here is using one, and what do you think of it compared to the MVP running mvpmc. 2. If people like them (there's also a wireless version with 1080p and HDMI), and there's interest, maybe it would be good to share efforts/code between the two projects. Just thought I'd throw this out for opinions, discussion. Thanks for everyone's efforts on mvpmc! I absolutely love it! /Mike __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
