crash the backend every time the mvpmc frontend tried to play it. I
chalked it up a a fluke and didn't bother investigating it further as
the recording wasn't overly important (just filler) and I had other
things to work on.

My crash seems to occur at the same time as some recordings started.
I'm not sure if it's coincidence or related, hence the poll of the lists.
I'm going to stick with 0.3.3 for the time being and see what happens.
I have a cron job that polls myth every 5 mins so that's all I'll ever lose.
