Dating back to my first use of mvpmc last Fall, that's always how it behaved for me. I thought it was just a matter of a feature that hadn't been implemented yet, but searching the archives: http://search.gmane.org/search.php?group=gmane.comp.multimedia.mvpmc.user&query=guide seems to turn up reports of others using the guide feature. The messages suggest that direct database access is required for this feature, which would explain why it doesn't work for me, but you've successfully set that up - right? I also see mention of a scheduling capability. Looks like the wiki is in bad need of catching up to the current feature list.
