Good point. I'll check that on the Xvid conversion. The text you quoted about was regarding my attempted conversion of an RTjpeg file, which wasn't using your script. >> ...you aren't making use of the -identify switch... > > The answer to this one is I did not find the -identify option, > so I did it the hard way, it is a big man page. Understandable. It is indeed a huge list of options. The same is true for all the other transcoder tools. I recorded a show last Friday using RTjpeg. I'll be lucky if I get the transcoding parameters figured out by the time the next episode airs. :-) Certainly makes me appreciate my PVR-500 card in comparison. I've been thinking we really need to add a section to the FAQ or wiki on recommended MythTV hardware for best compatibility with mvpmc. Picking the right hardware on the back-end can make a major difference in the ease of getting mvpmc to work. > That would have made most of the parsing alot easier.... Did you mention you were thinking of converting the script to Perl? I'd say you've got enough parsing and math going on that the transition from Bash to something more capable is warranted. Maybe I'll give that a go, once I get my immediate transcoding issues resolved. -Tom ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
