You have a duel NTSC tuner card, right? Then you are not able to receive 5.1 sound (a.k.a. AC3). You only get that with a QUAM or ATSC digital tuner (as far as I know). As for surround sound, that's a term that, I believe, means different things depending on what you are talking about. I have a TV where you can turn on something called SRS that drives me nuts! It sounds horrible. Make sure you don't have something similar going on. And then there's always the source that could be the problem. For instance, I always like to point out when using the DVD stereo source the bar / disco scene in the 1st Matrix movie is impossible to understand w/o subtitles. Where as when using the 5.1 source the scene is easily understood. If you do happen to come by a recording with AC3 audio, here is a clip from another mvpmc thread in this forum: > specifically mvpmc uses liba52 http://liba52.sourceforge.net/ for > analog. So, yes, the mvpmc does down mix to 2 channel stereo (if you don't use the passthrough option on the command line). And you can probably read about it on the liba52 sourceforge page. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
