Good theory, and I've seen the bug you mention, but I don't think the symptoms quite match. I actually haven't seen the jump bug in a long time. When it happened, you'd end up near the end of the show or at the end with the OSD showing a negative percentage. This black screen bug I have only seen since enabling commercial skipping in mvpmc, which seems to point to that as the cause. In addition, it always happens only on the first press of the skip forward button after starting playback.
