Well, there was a time when we didn't power down the mvpmv.  Actually I 
don't think Jon was anticipating adding this feature until users asked 
for it.  Really, you don't completely power things down much anymore.

So, what was the reason for this remote control in the first place. 
Then we could possibly offer or create a better solution.  Or was it for 
the sake of being able to do it - that's ok - lots of stuff gets done 
that way.
