I have a wireless MVP that I haven't tried getting working wirelessly yet, but I thought I read that you can get encryption to work providing you set it up using Hauppauge firmware first. Anyone care to comment? > It seems like a > successful boot has a dhcpdiscover, dhcpoffer, dhcprequest, dhcpack > and then about 50 seconds later another discover, offer, request, ack. Seeing two requests is normal. I believe what is happening is that the first request is done by the Hauppauge firmware when it boots out of flash. It then queries the relay server, your TFTP server, and loads the dongle if it has a newer version. Then when the mvpmc dongle boots, it again does a DHCP request, as any Linux system might during boot. > On the other hand, when the slow boot happens, I only see the first > group of requests, not the second ones 50 seconds later. It is also possible for mvpmc to pull an IP address stored in flash memory. I wonder if maybe the DHCP request on mvpmc boot is failing, and you'd got a bad IP address saved in your flash. There's a way to reset the "preferred media server" that's saved in flash (it's a menu option when you first start up). That might be worth a try. > I changed my config to the following (commented out nfs) and it has > worked through a couple of warm boots now, but often fails with a cold > boot (complete power cycle). I don't think the dongle.bin.config is re-ran for a warm boot. An mvpmc process remains running during "power off" and it just spawns new threads when you power up. If you got it to cold boot correctly, it should remain working at least until the next cold boot. -Tom ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
