Okay, well, I think the best way to progress from here is to look at what 
errors/warnings are produced when livetv fails to work. So, please telnet 
to your mvp, login as root, no password, and type the following commands

killall mvpmc
mvpmc -s 192.168.0.50

And then browse and attempt to start livetv as normal, and observe what 
errors are produced.

-y defaults to being the same as -s, -T defaults to mythconverg, and -u 
and -p both default to mythtv, so actually all you need here is:

mvpmc -s 192.168.0.50
