I'd recommend trying any of the following:

1. Setup a custom dongle.bin.config to launch mvpmc with debugging 
turned on and logging to a network file. See what gets logged 
corresponding to the time the connection failure occurs.

2. Do some research over in the MythTV community to see what the 
recommended procedures are for debugging MythTV protocol problems.

3. Investigate whether the known incompatible changes made to MythTV SVN 
head have been backported to the 0.21 fixes branch.

4. Run a packet sniffer and try and make sense of what is going on in 
the MythTV protocol conversation.

I'm running the stock offering from Ubuntu, but I do think someone else 
mentioned 0.21 fixes SVN on the list. If so, speak up and confirm that.
