Hello

the actual mwlib (mw-buildcdb) doesn't render the population
("Einwohnerzahl") of german cities in the german Wikipedia-XML-dump anymore
(since May 2013).

In May the german Wikipedia took the population out of the cities-articles
into a central base, where every article can connect to the same number.
This is very useful, so there are no outdated populations in some older
articles.
The article which needs the population number, just indicates the two
fields "Gemeindeschlüssel" (individual city-key) and "Bundesland" (state).
Wikipedia engine then gets the population.
The german wikipedia xml has all populations but not anymore in the article
of the "Gemeinde" itself, but somewhere else, I guess.
Other Wiki-Tools like Xowa gets the population in the newer german
wiki-dumps.

I don't know if this is possible in mwlib, to define such data, but since
this change in the german wiki, it is not anymore possible to get the
population numbers from the cities into an aard dictionary (german
Aard-Wikipedia-dictionary), which uses mwlib to render the xml.

Does anybody knows this issue and knows how to solve it?

Thank you.

frank
