TrueCrypt in this configuration wouldn't be meant to make the
*connection* more secure, but to protect from the consequences of a
file theft from the server. For cookie receipts, this might be
exaggerated, yes. For credit card numbers or online banking passwords
most probably not. Everything between this poles needs a personal
assessment, whether you'd be concerned or not.

Again: If you like the per file encryption approach, give AxCrypt a
serious try [1]. Maybe you like it.
By sure it wouldn't be a trivial task to make MLO do a significant
better job.
