One feature I would like to see which forms part of the Pomodoro technique
but which would have wider value is the ability to specify an estimate of
the amount of effort required in units of your choice (hours, days,
Pomodoros, apples, pears, whatever) and also to record the actual amount
of work that the task required.

A more Pomodoro specific feature but something which would have wider value
would be the ability to display this information visually (eg as boxes
which can be ticked off). - this would give an idea of the scale of the
work and provide a 'reward' as you progress towards completing the task.

That said, I do already use some features of MLO to implement some aspects
of the Pomodoro technique - eg I have created tasks 'Short break' and
'Longer break' as recurring tasks which reappear at the top of my To Do
list at the end of each Pomodoro.
