Summary: Opening an image without a background layer reverts
the background to pure white.

This may or not actually be a bug.
To reproduce:
1 - Set MyPaint's background as anything other than the default pure white.
2 - Open any PNG or JPG image
Expected: I'd expect the background color/pattern I set as default to persist
until I manually change it. (The exception being if I open an image with a
background layer already inside it.)
What Happens: The background gets reset to white.
Notes: I'm not sure what the code is like, but I think the behavior should be
to have MyPaint use the user's background preference unless you open an image
with a background layer embedded in it.
