Follow-up Comment #1, bug #17947 (project mypaint):
I'm getting this on Squeeze (stable) as well and I haven't made any recent
changes or updates to my system, so I don't think it's caused by a Gtk
change.
It started happening to me when I pulled in the brush setting grouping change
recently. I just checked the git log and I also got this commit around the
same time, which may be relevant:

gtk color selector: fix sizing, make default again
Use a gtk.HSV directly to avoid weird sizing issues when docked.
Make the colorSelectionWindow the default color selector again.
