Follow-up Comment #9, bug #18617 (project mypaint):
Another way to achieve the things you said would be a "lock" check box on
toolbar, and each brush should have a "lock" flag.
When you check it, the currently selected brush gets "locked" and will
remember settings. As soon as you un-check it, the brush will work just like
it does now. Also the lock/unlock flag's default value (globally) could be set
from options.
