Follow-up Comment #2, bug #19045 (project mypaint):

I completely agree that it's a feature more apps should have, but it's a
really big request that most devs can't oblige, probably because it would take
a lot of re-working or an app that is designed ground-up with it in mind. The
problem is, the apps that do it never seem to stick around, or drop the
feature eventually :(

There used to be a patch for Inkscape that provided it, called Inkboard, I
think. It got merged into Inkscape itself, then abandoned and left to rot,
and finally removed completely. It's a shame, too, because that was the
feature that got me to install Inkscape and give it a try.

Drawpile's in a similar state, too. Has potential but doesn't seem to have
been updated since 2008, and when I tried it last it had some serious problems
that made it nearly unusable.

The only other application I can think of that has the feature is an
extremely old version of OpenCanvas (proprietary software, despite the name)
that works reasonably well in wine. They stripped the feature out in later
versions, along with removing the free-as-in-beer version of the application,
but the old 1.1 version still works somewhat. If this is a pressing need and
not just a random wish, you can try http://wistinga.online.fr/opencanvas/.
