Update of bug #19506 (project mypaint):
Status: None => Works For Me
_______________________________________________________
Follow-up Comment #1:
Triaging - confirmed, but marking "works for me" since I don't think this is
that much of an issue really. To me it makes more sense to have the lines snap
to the canvas and not the view.
There are other canvas-specific rectilinear things in MyPaint like the frame
and the symmetry axis, and those can't (currently) be changed. So "vertical"
and "horizontal" have meanings which are canvas-relative and nothing to do
with the view. I guess it's OK for angle snap to respect that too.
(And, well, MyPaint isn't a technical drawing package: it concentrates on
freehand sketching and painting. If you want careful and exact drafting, Gimp
and better still, Inkscape exist ☺)
Let me know if the situation for perspective sketchups etc. could be improved
by reducing the angle of snapping though, or (as a separate wishlist item)
through some other sort of snapping. The angle "feels" quite big for long
lines right now, and I not we've no nice way of making lines radiate from a
point any more.
