Cleaning up an ancient, closed bug.
Josh: the palette rendering is fairly unmaintained. If nobody uses it and all
the functionality has made it to the new palette tool[1], we might think about
getting rid of it in a post-1.1 refactor.
[1] it hasn't fully, yet: the saturation range rendering tool is unique to the
scratchpad. Perhaps we could add something to let the palette tool interpolate
runs of blank cells between two colour endpoints...
