Looks like like MyPaint has found a new niche. I guess I almost should get such a device and try it myself... > As I'm sure you know, the Maemo OS uses the Hildon framework - a kind of > "wrapper" around gtk for efficient small screen usage on mobile devices, > and porting existing gtk based applications to Maemo is fairly trivial. No I did not know how this works, thanks for the info. > So here we are, if you like and have time - drop by at the MyPaint > thread at the Tablet Forums: > > http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16079 I've seen this thread before, when it was only one page. Amazing. Now I read through it all to extract the useful stuff. Hey, if I can help with such simple things as renaming "Save" to "Save As..." I sure will do it. Global pressure mapping also sounds useful. > I'm sure there are lots of people there that would like to know your > future plans regarding MyPaint, I for one... Yes, me too. There always is a big difference between what I say I want to do and what I actually do ;-) But I can tell you what I have already done. I have reworked the surface related code completely to add an alpha channel; basically layers are working right now in SVN trunk. However those changes have broken much other stuff (undo, save/load, zoom, pan) and I have to redo it. Also, it is slow as hell. When I'm finished with optimizing it will still be slower than without layers and use more memory. (Internally pixels are stored as 32bit floating point values, will probably change that to 16bit integers.) So before working on ui changes (except layer related) or brushes again I will probably try to optimize this so much that it might even run on an internet tablet ;-) Also I hope to get an usable layer GUI without a layer dialog. From my GIMP experience a layer dialog would be a big creativity killer. Let's see. bye, Martin _______________________________________________ Mypaint-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/mypaint-discuss
