On irc I seen a new user today, SeanJM. He had done some mock-ups for
Mypaint interface since few days. There are interesting ones, some that
are more related to GTK+ (like menu style) and some that, in my idea
shouldn't be integrated in MyPaint.

One of the great features of mypaint is the unlimited brushs
capabilities. That's true than it could become quickly hard to manage
thousands of brush. But I don't think define name based menues for
brushs like with some other painting software could be a good idea.

A better help for sorting every brush, could be the ability for the user
to create categories or better tags for brush and to be able to sort
them that way. some group in sub view could be good Like a bouton that
shows up a brush subset. Some tags could already be given to existing
standard brushs like smudge, charcoal, big, little or so one, but final
user should be definitivly able to change everything.

Here is the interesting mock-ups he has done :

For the colors palettes, I would add some informations, there are good
existing specialised colorscheme tools (Agave for GTK+ or Kcoloredit for
QT). It could be interesting to have this kind of tool integrated into
mypaint or, could be better, a more complete GTK+ standard palette tool
which could be integrated in any gtk+ application. Cooperation between
Agaver, Gimp, MyPaint and Inkscape users & dev could be a good base for
this, some of the elements given by SeanJM sould be really interesting
to add.

The simple GPL (gimp palette) is now used by at least agave, gimp and
Inkscape and should be definitively used as a first standard palette
file format.

Agave :

Kcoloredit :

There are some web colorscheme tool that could also give some idea of
what could be done.

I also like the mypaint specific color palette (v key), that have a
really interesting behavior, and the new wheel.

I hope lot of people will participate to this UI brainstorm.
