Hi Songwind,
I forward your message (under ) to the mailing list, thanks for the answer about Default brush.
That label/groups makes sens.

A fairly standard convention in other painting-workflow software packages is to group the supplied brushes by type. Personally, I feel this is very useful.

We could have something like:
Painting
Sketching
Airbrushing
Erasers
Blending
Effects

That would make it easy to find what you want, and clarify some brushes which are perhaps not 100% clear from the icons. (For example, David's sponge brush for blending. I wasn't sure until I used it if it was for that, or for a spongy-looking application of paint.)

Hi Martin, Hi Mypaint international mailinglist,

I answer your email on the mailing list ; because I think it can
interest brushkit creator, user and other developpers to answer this
   discution.
about my V4 , "35 brushes max" rule.
Sure, sorry for that , I didn't took care about it when creating /
   gathering them.
I didn't thought Mypaint team would think my brush kit enough
standard to be merged in master ; all brush are for 50% viewport
drawing , a lot of double ( with opacity variation or size ) because
I abuse of the brush panel icon as a preset docker ... So may be
not the best solution for the basic user, thinking-wise about his
   first start with mypaint.

about doing a "master's cut" update of my V4 brushkit
Sure and no problem about it :) I can do a packed version of them.
It's as simple as doing some removes here and there for me. This can
be done in less than an hour.

But if I try to see the more difficult way ( and of course the
interresting way , niark, niark ) : I think future Mypaint should
have at first start a strong default group only ( not limited by a
number , even long as in the 0.6 time , and simple without 'header
title of group' when alone at install , clean ) . This default
brushset will surely look better with visual icons ( as Tanda
brushset or a version of my brushset ). I can work on it doing
   something standard for Mypaint.
This will make mypaint smaller to download ( ok, it's not a problem
actually , I know ) , and I can understand an user could be unhappy
to see displayed my pseudo when he open his software :) That's just
not the right place imo, even if it's cool for me in a way.

And I have linked your V4 brushset in the wiki page with all downloadable
    brushsets:http://wiki.mypaint.info/Brush_Packages You can edit/update there
yourself if you want, I hope to keep this page up to date as a central place
where users look for more brushes.

And I love this new page , here poeple can download the personnal
kit after installation of Mypaint ; Deevad / Ramon / Tanda / Ico-d'Y
/ Experimental have a better place here I think than bundled by
default. If you agree with a default 'brushkit' , I would like on
the top menu 'Brush' of Mypaint ; with 'import brush' (under or up )
a link to open internet browser direclty to the good wiki page
   (http://wiki.mypaint.info/Brush_Packages ) with various brush kit (
in this wikipage a how-to on the top install ).

Of course, I have similar ideas for 'papers /backgrounds'

Best regards, feel free to comments with even 3 words if you don't
have a lot of time. Thanks for reading my proposition.
   -David

    hi David

I've pushed your V4 brushset to git master because I like to keep things up
to date, however as Jon noted I have just violated our "35 brushes max" rule
with that. We will probably want to stick to that rule for the 1.0 release.

Just a notice. For now I think it's okay, and there will be quite some time
(several months I would say) until 1.0, but when we get closer it would be
nice to have a "master's cut" update of your brushset again :-)

0.9.1 will soon be released, most likely without any brush updates.
