Just to catch up here, I think the layer repositioning branch is getting to a point of stability and usability, at least with the fixes from today.
Strategically, I don't want to change the core focus and positioning of MyPaint as a quick tool, but I also don't mind having a couple of simple extra features that making sketching, prototyping and painting work a little more pleasant in the core program even if they're things other programs can do just as well. If anything it's one less context switch for the user. But the program should still be primarily about flow and paring down the mental context switches to the minimum. That means doing manipulations directly on a canvas rather than via dreary filter or manipulation windows or too much fiddling around with fussy canvas overlays. I think move-layer just about falls into the first category, but rotation and scaling might have be done as "first specify your angle..." Finally, suggestions for default keybindings please! Currently you have to bind it to a modifier+button drag yourself. MyPaint also has some hardcoded stuff on modifier+space+pointer motion (that doesn't make sense on all computers, to be honest), but I can revisit that too. Frame manipulation kinda fell into the cracks between revisions, so I want to make that a little more accessible too and do some quick refactoring on it since we now have a more general drag operation abstraction. -- Andrew Chadwick _______________________________________________ Mypaint-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/mypaint-discuss
