HI, I've recently created this simple tool 'oralayerextractor' It is basically a counterpart to MyPaint's 'Multiple PNG' export. Where Multiple PNG export creates N files of the same size (image size), oralayerextractor creates N files each with the size of the individual layers.
I created this script because I tend to make many quick drawings side by side, each on their own layer. Naturally, this results in a very wide canvas, only a tiny amount of which has content (on any given layer). For example: http://imgur.com/a/T705w This is very wasteful for the type of files I want -- each file would be huge, and I would have to run autocrop on each to reduce it to a viewable size. Also, I would lose the description contained in the layer name. Oralayerextractor, by contrast, extracts each layer with a size matching the layer content and a filename matching the layer name. It also provides a few options that improve viewability (adding a border/padding around the image, flattening the image onto a background color): http://imgur.com/a/NTb4y I have just published this tool on github at: https://github.com/0ion9/arttools I hope to hear your comments on it, and whether there is a need to incorporate some of this functionality into MyPaint's export.
