Hi Patric, I believe you will have many problems of this kind with older versions of FreeBSD. You should update, if you can, to FreeBSD-stable. See this URL for easy instructions on how to update if you don't know how. http://www.mostgraveconcern.com/freebsd/ and look at the CVSUP info. The recompile MySQL and re-install it!
