Subject: Fields

Hi,
Are there certain chacters that a VARCHAR field can't store?
If I xor encrypt a #, I get non-alphanumeric characters:

Ex: 123456789123 may end up 1 YdR

Is this a problem to store properly, should I use a different field
type other than varchar?

Thanks,
Chris
