This question is where the mySQL manual would save you tons of time. The
procedure you are referring to is called a sub-select. Unfortunately, for
some strange reason, MySQL does not support sub-selects at this time.

However, I know from the development team that sub-select is a major TO-DO
for the very next version. Just wait a little longer, I guess.

i was wondering if the above is possible in mysql. i was working on a query
but it keep throwing me syntax error.

example:
sql>  select * from table1 where id in (select id from table1 group by id
having count(id) > 1)

the above statement works perfectly in mssql...
