I had the same thing on two recent installs. My fix, uninstall it and
download the current release Server and Client from the MySQL site. Works
great here<g>

Subject: MySQL error (newbie)

I recently installed MySQL from the Red Hat 7.0 CD. When I try to access
MySQL as a standard user I get this error.

"Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.socket'(111)"

Any idea on what I need to do to correct this?

Mike
