Hello all,

Can someone tell me the consequences of setting max_connections and open-files-limit too high? That is, higher than I'd expect to need under normal circumstances, say 10,000 connections when all I'd expect is less than 1,000 at any one time. Could a malicious user bring MySQL to its knees by opening lots and lots of connections? Would it affect the entire system, or just the mysql process?
