If anyone has successfully gotten MySQL to work on Mac OS X, could you please share your tips/solutions? There are at least 3 other people who are not able to get it to work and are showing a variety of problems (can't shut msqld down (hangs), fails to complete the install tests (mysql-test-run). In particular: exact version number exact configure parameters anything else you did to get it to work. VERY much appreciated.
