Can any body tell me what the 4.1.x client library loads_defaults function returns if it can't find the .my.cnf file? It's listed in the header as int load_defaults() but the documentation for it is atrocious. Even Paul fails to check/use the return in his MySQL definitive guide, just assumes it works.
