You are supposed to be able to fix this by specifying "old passwords" in your new my.ini
You are also advised to upgrade Perl,PHP, Drivers etc!!!!
It does pay to do *some* research before installing a new version of anything, to see if there are going to be any issues!!! You certainly wouldn't have had to look far to stumble across this one!!!
