Hi Asad, Do not put a space between the -p and password. You don't have to put the password in on the command line as the mysql client will prompt you for it.

I am now having trouble authenticating users(root, admin) to MySQL. I am able to start MySQL but not using a specific user name and password. When I type ./mysql in /usr/local/mysql/bin, I am able to access MySQL. However, I have no privileges this way. However, when I try the following: ./mysql -u root -p password I get an error that states "ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
