-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 My mysql server is running on mysql.xxx.edu, for this example.
There is a cname so that alias.xxx.edu is mapped to mysql.xxx.edu, so that we can failover to a different server by changing the cname. When I type: mysql -h alias.xxx.edu -pPassword -u username mydatabase I get: ERROR 1130 (00000): #HY00Host 'alias' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server But, when I am on my development machine, and I use the exact same command, it works. Why would it fail when I am on the computer that the server is actually running on? Thanx for any suggestions. We are using Solaris 9, and mysql 4.1.xx - -- "Love is mutual self-giving that ends in self-recovery."
