I failed to make my entire point clear then.  That's true.

But when someone does the "oh fsck, I think I just ran a catastrophic query on our production database" we would now have a running system in place that hasn't yet processed that query that can be compared against the real thing within seconds or minutes to see what the damage is and/or just try to repair.

When you restore a 20gig+ database from binlogs and try to find a point-in-time, it takes more than seconds/minutes. You have tried a restore right??? :)
