Thanks. I was directed earlier to Base as an option. While it works, it is very complicated for the non-techie, so what I did was write a few simple php scripts for common queries and we run that in firefox. As I already run apache on the machine, this was not much trouble. Another plus is that the querys are available on the other machine on the home network- we just surf to the machine's IP address.
