Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought Kishore was saying that if I had started the server with that option, that could be the cause of my problem. I'd really rather not restart the server, as it is a production system. I can schedule to have it done if I must. After looking in the manual I don't know if the --skip-name-resolve option would help me. It says: "Hostnames are not resolved. All Host column values in the grant tables must be IP numbers or localhost." - I don't want to specify IP's in my grant tables, I want to use a wildcard at my domain: %.willcomminc.com.
