select substring_index(user(),_utf8'@',-1) not return ip on win2000/XP ?

Hi,
  If mysql database server  installed  on Linux without problem, but on
win2000/XP:
 select substring_index(user(),_utf8'@',-1)  return the  local  windows
station computer name  instead of  IP ?
