Does anyone know how to get FULLTEXT indexing not to treat hyphens as word breaks?

Basically I am searching part numbers and descriptions and need something like Z-5500 to be returned. I want to keep using FT for the scoring. I lowered the min word length to 2. I am thinking I could lower it to 1 and replace the "-" in the `match against term` with a space, but it would be cleaner if this can be manipulated in the index.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Mike
