You ought to choice one of these ways:

 while ($row=mysql_fetch_row($result)){
      echo "<tr><td>$row[1]</td></tr> \n";
 }

OR

$row = mysql_fetch_row($result);
do {
     echo "<tr><td>$row[1]</td></tr> \n";
} while ($row=mysql_fetch_row($result));
