What You'll Do/Need The MySQL Database Engineer installs and configures the database system. They monitor database system resources and performance, while overseeing database availability, backup and recovery systems. Responsibilities * Install and configure MySQL database system * Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as defragmentation, upgrades and storage management * Install and configure Progress or SQL RDBMS and application server * Knowledge in approaches for performance optimization, clustering and replication (such as Fathom replication, Application Server, etc.) * Perform data modeling * Ensure quality data creation, presentation and data flow within our systems * Oversee data consistency and third-party interfaces * Physical database design and implementation in a UNIX/MySQL environment * Understand and design high-availability architecture Requirements * Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer information systems * Knowledge of SQL coding and UNIX shell scripting * Ability to perform code and design reviews * Knowledge related to server hardware, including networks and storage devices * Database design/architecture experience in a UNIX/MySQL or Windows/SQL server environment * Database administration operations experience in a UNIX/MySQL or Windows/SQL server environment * Expertise in performance optimization, clustering and replication * Knowledge of SQL coding or UNIX shell scripting * Ability to understand large data models quickly * Ability to troubleshoot problems and quickly resolve issues * Strong communication skills * Strong analytical and research skills What You'll Get * Excellent benefits package that includes a 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision, and much more * Opportunities to participate in professional and personal development programs, including personal empowerment coaching, leadership training and ongoing personal growth training * Other incentives, contests and rewards, including trips, event tickets, cash prizes and more Why We're Different Meet the anti-corporate culture of Quicken Loans, where there's no daunting hierarchy, "boss" is a four-letter word, and if you work hard, you'll reap the rewards, both personally and professionally.
