I am not real knowledgable in this area, new to MySQL, and only an
intermediate level SQL programmer, but I was just wondering where
MySQL stands in relation to the SQL-99 standard? I notice on the
MySQL site that one of their recommended choices in books is:

SQL-99 Complete, Really
Peter Gulutzan, Trudy Pelzer
http://www.mysql.com/portal/books/html/index.html

So I imagine that SQL-99 must be real close to how SQL is implemented in MySQL.

Currently on page 127 of the MySQL manual (Version: 3.23.33 Printed:
15 February 2001) in the section "5.5 What Standards Does MySQL
Follow?" is the statement:

Entry level SQL92. ODBC levels 0-2.

The discussion in this manual also surrounds SQL-92. Will the manual
be updated to reflect a discussion of SQL-99? I suppose this might
happen in MySQL 4 (if and when that is scheduled to occur).

I realize this must open a whole can of worms to discuss all the
details, all I am looking for is a general answer.
