Hi, I am having some trouble connecting to a database through DBI. I get the error in my error log: DBI->connect failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server (2) and then the name of the script. I have had no troubles up until the last 24 hours, and it happened all at once. I have the problem on a shared hosting machine, and the company is having a lot of trouble working out why I can connect to MySQL from the Shell (even if I run the same script from the shell prompt as from the web, it works from the shell and not from the web). I was wondering if any of you guys had come across this problem and had a solution. I am not aware of the user_id of the web server changing (I have even had the script creating and writing to files just to make sure it is the same user_id as the shell login), but I am at a loss to work out the problem. I have tried manually setting the username and password and have buggered around with the host settings and sockets to no avail.
