I have just downloaded mysql-3.23.39-pc-solaris2.8-i386 and I am going through my first installation however I don't get far as one of the first steps is to run the script mysql_install_db however the size of this file is zero bytes! I have seen the messages about Sun's tar not working properly but I don't believe that is my problem. Has anyone got any ideas what's going on? Why is this file empty?
