Well, I just did, and it works like a charm. There is only one thing to
watch out for: if you restart the system with the failed disk disconnected
(from the SCSI/IDE chain), the ordering of the RAID will be different.
Example:
1 /dev/sda
2 /dev/sdb (FAILS)
3 /dev/sdc
will become
1 /dev/sda
3 /dev/sdb
So you will have to temporarily change the RAID config files until you
have a new disk. But, as said, it works quite perfectly. The re-init of
the RAID took (for a 36Gb RAID-5) approx. 40 minutes.
