crypting the data movements

Hi,

i have the mySQL server on a linux machine
it is accessed by remote clients


did someone use any crypting mechanism
or a similar mechanism in order to protect
the data traffic between the server and the client
(C + APImySQL), if yes where can I find the
informations ?.
I would like to use a sort of tunneling
either there exist a specific package
for mysql remote query ?
