Hi, I would suggest you upgrade to FreeBSD 4.3 or better 4.4 (Which just came out a coupel of weeks ago). 4.2 has threads and compiler bugs. You can do an in place upgrade, but after upgrading don't forget to recompile MySQL (unless you are using the binary provided by mysql group). See www.freebsd.org for upgrade instructions or download an upgrade image and checkout the README.
