-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 hi,
when mysql starts up with Innodb for the first time, it cerates the tablespace. When I tried it on a test machine (remote), I didn't quite know what was going on, as all the machine did was respond to pings, but nothing more, till it created the 500Meg tablespace. When it came back, it had a 60+ load. (debian linux, p3-500, 128M ram) My question is: what can I expect if I want to create a 5Gig tablespace on a bigger machine (debian linux also, dual p3-500, 512M ram)? the server will be shut down from public access during this time, but I need to do everything remotely. will it survive, or is there a chance that the machine will crash during creation of this huge tablespace? - From the test install, it seems that I will not be able to stop anything, once it starts creating the tablespace, so I won't even know if anything goes wrong. any experiences? :) thanks a lot, Attila ...........................................................................
